Is it true that you can really start a freelance career without having any direct experience? Yes, but you’re going to pull in some experience from other places. Now if you are not familiar with a certain type of software or doing something in digital marketing, I encourage you to go out there and teach yourself. When I started freelancing, I had no experience as a search engine optimization writer, and now, that has been my full time business for the last seven years. I am totally self-taught and a lot of that was through really inexpensive tools.

Freelance writing is what I know well, but there are all different ways that you can work in the freelance economy: virtual assistant, graphic designer, web developer, web designer, voice over artist. Regardless of the area that you want to freelance in, my latest video will give you some ideas about how to get started when you don’t have experience.

If you are interested in learning what it’s like to be a freelance writer, my first book, Start Your Own Freelance Writing Business which comes out with Entrepreneur Press, is now available for sale. At the time of writing this post, it’s available for pre-order and after July 2019, will be available to purchase. You can check it out here:
